On returning to scotland
it was the raw and rugged beauty of the western highlands that inspired me to pick up my camera. Through the lens I attempted to portray the ephemeral magic of the nature enveloping me here.
it was not enough...
I needed to express the raw wildness more physically, more immediately.
My photography led quite naturally to painting…
quickly…
intuitively…
to capture that fleeting moment using whichever medium came to hand first.
This has developed into a semi-abstract style using mixed media.
